St. Joseph & St. Jerome

Altar boys are close to the altar as they assist the Priest and Deacons during liturgical functions. Our altar boys wear the robe of baptism (the alb), which is a sign of their position in the community as baptized people. They hold the book of the prayers (the Roman Missal), and they help the priest at the altar as it is prepared for the Liturgy of the Eucharist. Students in the 3rd grade or older are invited to train with our sacristan, Roger Buch, to learn their duties, gain a better understanding of the Mass, and learn the names and function of the vessels and Liturgical books used during the various Liturgies throughout the Church year. Altar boys must have been baptized and received First Holy Communion to be able to serve.
