St. Joseph & St. Jerome

The Society of Saint Vincent de Paul was founded in Paris in 1833, by a young French student, Frédéric Ozanam, to confront his city’s devastating poverty. Inspired by St. Vincent de Paul, a 17th century French priest who had an untiring commitment to serving the poor, Ozanam’s mission was clear – help the needy on a one-to-one basis and “accomplish through charity what justice alone cannot do.” Compassion in action was the heart of Frederic Ozanam’s spirituality. Today, the Society is a thriving network of charity in 142 countries.

Inspired by the Gospel values of morality and justice, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a global Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to the needy and suffering. Our mission includes, but is not limited to: advocacy for the poor, emergency transportation, food pantry, home visits, utility assistance, household furnishings, rent assistance, and more. We also organize St. Joseph’s “Tree of Love” at Christmas.

We meet at 6:00 p.m. every Monday evening at the St. Joseph Parish Center. The society serves those in need regardless of creed, ethnic or social background, health or gender. Vincentians strive to seek out and find those in need and the forgotten, the victims of exclusion or adversity.

The society is dependent on your generous donations and support. We join together in the spirit of fellowship and Christian charity. All former members are invited and encouraged to attend, and of course, we welcome everyone from our two parishes to participate in this worthwhile ministry. Please consider joining us.
